Musical Theatre and Performance

Musical Theatre and Performance Club will be great for you if you love singing, acting or dancing. It will also be something to enjoy,  if you are interested in understanding how backstage, lighting, sound, costume etc. are vital to the smooth running of performances and productions. We will look at some of the different genres of songs included in stage shows, how shows are put together (setting up the stage, backstage running, quick changes) and possibly even plan how our own performance would be organised!

This week in Musical Theatre and Performance Club…

After looking at poetry last week, we completed our own ‘Poetry Slam’. Each group went against each other and performed poems they had created themselves. The theme had to be related to colours and we were very imaginative with our ideas! We decided to complete our Poetry Slam outside so that we could practice our projection in outdoor spaces.

Last week in Musical Theatre and Performance Club…

We looked at different performances from a range of musicals, including Matilda, The Boy in the Dress and The Greatest Showman. We discussed the different roles that were needed to create a successful performance. For this session, we looked at starting our own performances, looking at performance poetry, so we could practice our projection, performance skills and confidence. Everyone got involved, some even did solos!
