A visit to the Houses of Parliament
Yesterday, the members of Westacre Parliament were up early as we set off at 6.30am for our journey to London to visit the Houses of Parliament. On arrival after passing through security checks, we made our way into the grand hall where the Queen, Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama have addressed the members of parliament, to be greeted by our guide for the day. We were then escorted through the many corridors and rooms of the Palace of Westminster including the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The children were able to sit on the benches of the houses and stood at the dispatch box! We were joined by MP Nigel Huddleston who also spent time with the children describing his day in parliament. It was a fascinating day for the children and we would like to thank Mr Huddleston for helping to arrange such a memorable experience for the children.
