Storytale Festival 2020

 

Join us online for this year’s bitesize edition of the Storytale Festival.

We’ve got all ages covered… from storytelling and craft activities for tots, to writing workshops and inspiring discussions for teens. The best part is, you can rewatch it all in your PJs as often as you want!

Sky High Dragon Detective with Gareth P. Jones - October 24 @ 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm BST

Award-winning author, Gareth Jones, will give an introduction to the third book in his Dragon Detective series, Sky High! He'll then treat you to a performance of the accompanying song on various instruments – it's an event not to be missed.

Start Your Own Adventure Story with Katharine Orton - October 25 @ 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm GMT

Using just a couple of starting ideas, author Katharine Orton will help you come up with the basis for an epic adventure. She promises to get your imagination whirring.

Join author of Milton the Mighty and Milton the Megastar, Emma Read, for a fun session of writing tips and spideryness.

Background Noise with Malaika Kegode - October 26 @ 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm GMT

Stir your imagination with poet Malaika Kegode, who'll use a writing prompt to get you thinking about the stories that aren't being told in famous paintings and photos. She'll show you a way to get inspired to create your own characters.

Wild Things! with Sophie Kirtley - October 27 @ 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm GMT

Author Sophie Kirtley wants you to let your stories go WILD! Find out how she uses the natural world in her books... and how YOU can unleash the wild side of your writing too! Wellies on! Notebooks ready! Let's get outside!

Creating Magical Story Settings with Anna Hoghton - October 28 @ 3:00 pm - 3:20 pm GMT

Tune in for a short masterclass with Anna Hoghton, debut author of The Mask of Aribella, on how to create believable, impossible worlds!

Make your magical settings come alive and feel real with her handy tricks and tips.

There's also the chance to win a magical bookish prize at the end, by entering the magical setting you create into her competition.
