Hello From Our Year 5 Teaching Assistants

Hello, my name is Mrs Burton and I will be the Teaching Assistant for 5LP (Mrs Pledger's class). My favourite subject is Maths and you may meet me in Maths interventions. I also help run the board games club after school which has proved very popular. I live in the countryside and enjoy walking, looking after my son's old pony, reading and cooking. I look forward to meeting you all at the start of the new term.

Hello my name is Mrs Newell. I have been a Teaching Assistant at Westacre Middle School for 10 years. I have run a cooking club, embroidery club and film club over the years.  In my spare time I love Acrylic Painting, Crocheting, Upcycling and Embroidery/Sewing.  I also belong to a WI group called Sparkles within Droitwich. Here, I do lots of activities from Fire Walking, Windsurfing, Ice-Skating, Book Club and many more.  Looking forward to meeting you all in September, particularly 5JR who I will be working with each day. Have fun over the 6 weeks.

Hello, my name is Mrs Howells and I will be the Teaching Assistant in 5JD. In my spare time, I enjoy outdoor activities, baking, and going on adventures with my Springer Spaniel Bella. I have worked at Westacre for seven years. I have visited you all in your first schools (along with Mrs Riddleston) to talk to you about our wonderful school and answered your questions. I am really looking forward to meeting you all in September, getting to know you and helping you settle in as your new adventure begins!

Hello everyone, my name is Miss Payne and I’ll be the Teaching Assistant in 5MP. By the time I get to meet you all in September though I’ll be Mrs Barlow because I’m getting married in the summer holidays. In my spare time, I really enjoy reading, walking and arts and crafts. I’ve loved being able to make lots of crafty things ready for my wedding in July. My favourite animal is a flamingo so it’ll be no surprise to you all that my favourite colour is also pink. I’ve worked at Westacre for the last 4 years and I love being a Teaching Assistant here. I can’t wait to get to know you all in September, hear all about your summer holiday adventures and help you on your new journey in middle school.

Hello everyone, My name is Miss Cook and I will be the Teaching Assistant in 5MK. I have lots of hobbies including swimming, baking cakes and art. My favourite colour is orange as it's such a vibrant colour. I have two young daughters who keep me very busy outside of school. I'm really looking forward to meeting you all at Westacre in September

Transfer Day Activities for Year 4

Postcard to My Class Teacher

You will have a postcard with you at first school that we would like you to write to your new class teacher.

Please write your new teacher’s name above the address.

On this side, your new teacher would like you to tell them something about you. What are you looking forward to at Westacre? Is there a fascinating fact about yourself you think your teacher should know?

Don’t forget to sign off with your first and last name.

On the other side, draw a picture of something that interests you or that illustrates your personality for your teacher.

(You might like to try your ideas out on scrap paper first)

All About Me Questionnaire

We are excited to find out all about you, as you prepare to start Year 5 at Westacre. Once you have written your name at the top of the page, complete all of the boxes on the sheet by giving as much detail as you can through your writing and drawings. Remember - the more detail that you can give, the more we can find out about you!

When these activities are complete, please place them back into the plastic wallet you will be given in school.

Remember to write your name and new class on the front cover so they can find their way back to your class teacher.

My Summer Reading Record

This task is for you to take home to complete in the Summer holidays.

Reading is really important to us at Westacre and we would love to hear all about the books that you have been reading. ‘My Summer Reading Record’ is a chance for you to share the name of the book you are reading and the pages you have read with an adult. There are 10 scrolls for you to fill in, therefore your challenge is to read 10 times or more before joining us! On each scroll, you will need to record the name of your book (e.g. Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer) and the amount of pages you have read (e.g. pp. 12-22.) followed by an adult’s signature.

Things To Share With Your Parents.

Don't forget to show your parents this page on our website when you go home so that they can see your class teacher and find out about your holiday task.

There is also a video below from Mrs Riddleston, Head of Year 5, to welcome your parents and to give them more information about starting in September. They can see this on our Parent Page too via the link below.
