Year 5 have been set the challenge of creating a poster for British Science week. They should celebrate our DIVERSE planet.

Please see the details below in the powerpoint, along with any restrictions as to materials.

Year 5 CC homework

Year 5 have been set topic homework relating to their work on Shackleton and the Antarctic. They have to complete one piece by 13th December. They may do more than one piece for extra merits!

Year 5 Homework

Our weekly homework in year 5 is set on a Wednesday and expected back at school on the following Wednesday.

English Homework

Pupils will be given a piece of English homework each week that is to be completed in their yellow homework book. This may be a piece of SPAG (Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar) or a selection of Reading Comprehension questions.

Maths Homework

Every Wednesday pupils will receive homework from their Maths teacher to be completed in their blue Maths Homework books. This will include samples to Mental Arithmetic tests and tasks linked to the areas of Maths studied in class.

Accelerated Reader

Pupils will soon be completing a reading test as part of our Accelerated Reading programme. This will establish the range of books pupils are able to access as part of their weekly reading. We expect pupils to read this books and other texts of their choice at home at least 4 times a week. This should be signed by an adult in Learning Journals.

Times Tables

It is expected that pupils should know their times tables facts up to 12 x 12 by the end of year 4. If you know your child is not secure with these we would encourage as much practice as possible to increase confidence and knowledge in this area.

Creative Curriculum

Children will have termly Creative Curriculum homework  which links to their topic for that term. This will involve a range of options from the children to choose from across the curriculum.
