Day 1

Group 3 started off the day with making God's Eyes.....we all had great fun trying with lollipop sticks and then some of us with sticks. There were some really nice patterns made.

Session 2 was Science and insulation. They all worked sensibly and safely....and got a variety of results, so we don't know which actually was the insulator. We also tested our Maths skills in reading the thermometers and technology skills with the stop watches. 

Session 3 was the climbing wall, which they absolutely loved, and even Mrs Griffiths had a go. A few made it to the top, and even those that didn't kept having a go and gradually got higher and higher.

We're looking forward to another couple of fun days too.

Day 2

We had a great day, starting off with making our energy bars...we tried them at the end of school, and Mrs Griffiths isn't sure how many will make it to home! They worked really hard weighing the ingredients carefully and also washed up really well.

Session 2 was tents. There was a "great" demonstration from Mrs Griffiths and Mrs Mac, with a little help from a few of the pupils. They then had a go at it themselves in their groups. The superstars were Dexter, Tyler, Marcel and Jamie...they built their own tent without any adult help and also helped other groups - thanks lads. There was also some great packing away of tents as well.

Session 3 was Forest School - there was some really good teamwork to build the shelters and resilience shown when things didn't work out at first. They all managed to successfully build a shelter that stayed up so should be proud of themselves.

Hopefully day 3 will be as fun tomorrow. 

Day 3

We started day 3 with orienteering.....some groups really enjoyed it and 1 group completed 3 whole 'rounds'!! I think some were a little relieved that the rest of the day was in the classroom as they were a bit tired. �� 

After break we did STEM challenge, building shelters from straws, lolly sticks, string and tape. They generally worked well together...planning before building their shelters. They then built them; teamwork was in evidence to overcome any problems. The shelters were then tested for three criteria: stability, whether they were windproof (using a fan) and whether they were waterproof. It was extremely close and there was only about 6 points between all 4 teams.

After lunch was the survival quiz - they got very competitive as the scoreboard changed a lot...especially in the first round.
