Supporting Families and Early help at Westacre

We are here to help

At Westacre Middle School, we understand that family life can sometimes be challenging. There may be times when children, parents or carers need some additional support, and asking for help early can prevent difficulties from becoming more serious.

Early Help means providing the right support as soon as a need or concern is identified. This may involve support from school, working together with other professionals, or helping families access specialist services.

Our aim is simple: to work alongside children and families to understand what is happening and find the support that is right for them.

How can Early Help support my family?

Families may benefit from Early Help for many different reasons, including:

  • worries about a child’s emotional wellbeing or mental health;

  • behaviour, routines or boundaries at home;

  • difficulties attending or coming into school;

  • friendships, relationships or bullying;

  • special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND);

  • a child who has caring responsibilities;

  • bereavement, separation or other changes within the family;

  • family relationship difficulties or domestic abuse;

  • financial, housing or employment difficulties;

  • drug or alcohol concerns within the family;

  • online safety;

  • concerns about exploitation, criminal activity or a child going missing;

  • parenting support;

  • health and wellbeing; or

  • any other circumstances that may be affecting your child or family.

You do not need to wait until a situation becomes serious before asking for support. If something is affecting your child or family, please speak to us.

Please see below for details of the support available in school and other organisations and services that may be able to help.
