Our final day began with the usual buzz of activity as we cleaned our dorms and packed our bags, ready to leave. Some groups finished quickly, while others took a little longer—each of us at our own pace, perhaps not quite ready to say goodbye just yet.
With everything packed, we set off for our last morning activity. Our destination was Allt Ddu, a disused slate mine steeped in history and rugged beauty. The walk itself was an adventure—we clipped in and edged our way carefully along a narrow slate cliff, the path winding dramatically through the landscape. At one point, we ducked through a small tunnel, the darkness adding to the thrill of the experience.
When we emerged, we were rewarded with a stunning panoramic view over Llanberis and Snowdon. The slate sparkled faintly beneath our feet, and the mountains stood quietly in the distance, as if watching over us. It was a moment of stillness, awe, and appreciation—a perfect end to an unforgettable week!
Today was an absolutely brilliant day, packed full of adventure and excitement from start to finish. We kicked things off with an unforgettable zip wiring session in a disused slate quarry. We had to wait for the instructors to set up the lines, which only built up the anticipation. Once everything was ready, we took it in turns to fly down the wire. It was amazing—such an exhilarating experience! Mrs Page was waiting at the bottom to unclip us, and the best part was that we even got a second go!
After our thrilling morning, we headed down to Flatmaris Lake for lunch. The scenery was stunning—peaceful and picturesque, the perfect place to relax and recharge.
In the afternoon, we got our wetsuits back on and took to the lake for some kayaking. We had so much fun paddling around. Everyone did really well—going forwards, backwards, and even turning in circles like pros. Hardly anyone capsized, although a few of us decided to jump in just for the fun of it!
It was a fantastic way to spend our final full day. We’ve made some great memories, and we can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
Today was an incredible adventure! We teamed up with Mrs. Truman's group and headed to Rhaeadr Waterfalls, nestled on the side of Snowdon, for an unforgettable canyoning experience. The day began with a hike up the Llwybr Watkin path, each of us carrying our gear—wetsuits, helmets, buoyancy aids, extra fleeces, and waterproofs. The Cwm Llan’s water was so clear it looked like something straight out of a postcard, and the views were absolutely breathtaking.
We climbed over rocks, and the highlight of the day was definitely jumping into the plunge pools. It was exhilarating, and we all pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones, which made the experience even more rewarding. It was great to see our teamwork improve as we supported each other through the challenges.
To top it all off, we ended the day with a trip to Georgio’s ice cream shop. It was the perfect sweet treat to close out such an adventurous day. What an amazing way to wrap up the day!
After a hearty breakfast and ticking off all our chores for the day, we quickly got ourselves packed and ready for our adventure ahead. Today was all about gorge scrambling! With our gear in tow, we set off with Affon Dda, making sure we had everything we needed—wetsuit, helmet, buoyancy aid, and a change of dry clothes for later.
The scramble began as we navigated over slippery rocks and took the plunge into the cool, refreshing pools below. It was an invigorating start, the cold water quickly waking us up as we pushed forward. We climbed, scrambled, and leaped from rock to rock, all while soaking in the breathtaking sight of cascading waterfalls around us.
Despite the chilly water, we kept going strong, building teamwork as we helped each other along the way. As the day went on, the challenge of climbing the steep forest paths at the end helped us warm up, and the satisfaction of finishing the adventure was immense.
It was a brilliant day, filled with laughs, teamwork, and a sense of accomplishment. A truly unforgettable experience!
Monday -
After a great journey up, we started by making our beds and getting our bearings around the site.
Our activity today was rock climbing! But not just up and down one at a time. We traversed up and round a rock cliff edge on tandem. It was quite high, but the view from the top was amazing!
We're now back waiting for dinner (pizza and wedges!) before heading out this evening on an evening activity.
