For our final day it was a breakfast of toast, cereal and beans on toast to set group 1 up for a morning on rock climbing. After packing their bags, cleaning their rooms and having a peg kit check, group 1 had their final briefing before grabbing their climbing helmets and harnesses and heading in the minibus to Lions Rock. They started off climbing to the top whilst only being clipped to each other - some great team work and communication was shown here! Once at the top they took a quick breather to admire the view before abseiling back down the other side.
Miss Constable has been so impressed with the whole group this week. They have all shown resilience, leadership skills, independence and built on their own individual goals too. All on the coach heading home now and looking forward to sharing all there stories and adventures!
The morning started with a big breakfast of toast, cereal, sausage and hash brown for Group 1 before loading up the mini bus with harnesses, ropes and helmets (with cool torches on!) to head to Rhiwbach Slate Quarry. They started with a quick 30 minute walk (or scramble) up the hill, admiring the views on the way, before getting to the top and putting on their harnesses and crawling into the mine. The day was spent exploring the mine, learning about the life of a miner, boating across a small lake, zip wiring across a "bottomless" pot and climbing a rope up a waterfall. The long walk back down the hill was much more enjoyable than on the way up! The bus ride home was much quieter on the way back to the centre - a little bit tired and looking forward to their fish and chips for dinner!
Group 1 started the morning making their sandwiches (getting better each day!) and a filling breakfast of cereal, toast, egg and bacon. The weather was looking sunny and warm so we headed straight off to Porth Tre Castell (Cable Bay) for a morning of zip wiring between 2 cliffs. They all had a few goes each before having a go at pulling themselves along a lower line - with a couple of accidental dips in the sea! It was another lovely picnic lunch - no ducks today - but on a sand dune overlooking the beach.
In the afternoon, the group donned their wetsuits to brave the cold temperatures of the sea and go coast steering! A quick paddle in the waves to realise just how cold it was, before setting off scrambling along the rocks and cliff edge taking a few jumps (and slips and falls) in the sea as they went. In true group 1 style they got braver and braver as they went, jumping from higher rocks each time and always supporting each other along the way!
They have definitely earned their chilli and jacket potato for dinner tonight!
After a good night sleep (for most!) group 1 started the day making their sandwiches (some were very proud of their efforts) and a breakfast of cereal, toast, sausage and hash brown. A quick briefing from their instructor, PJ, and they were ready to set off for the day. First stop was Llyn Padarn where they unloaded the canoes from the trailer and set off around the lake. Miss Constable was very impressed with the leadership skills and teamwork shown under very testing conditions! A picnic with the ducks was the perfect opportunity to dry off before heading back to the centre to change kit and head out again. The afternoon was an explore of an old slate quarry before being a bit more daring clipping themselves to a line and climbing the stairway to heaven! Back to the centre now for a much needed shower before sweet and sour chicken for dinner and evening activities!
As soon as group 1's beds were made and their kit was ready, they grabbed their helmets and jumped in the minibus to go weaseling! After a short practice on a rock wall, the group twisted, turned and weasled their way through the gaps between rocks. Miss Constable has already been so impressed with the resilience, determination and support group 1 have shown each other already - what a great start to the week!
