Visions and Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.

Inspire. Challenge. Achieve.

At Westacre Middle School, individuality is valued and all children are encouraged to meet and exceed expectations.

In partnership with parents and the wider community, we foster an atmosphere of inspiration, challenge and achievement underpinned by our learning and living values.

6Rs - Independent Learning Values

To help foster an atmosphere of independent learning across school, we teach our pupils about the characteristics of successful learners through our 6Rs approach. Lessons in PSHE show children what it means to be responsible, resilient, ready, reflective, reasoned and resourceful learners. Through displays around school, individual and group celebrations and rewards, teacher marking and a whole school consistent use of the language within this approach, Westacre pupils are fully aware of the skills and behaviours needed to help them be successful in their learning journeys here and into the future.

Living Values

A value is something that we think is be important and precious.  At Westacre we believe that the way we approach life and the attitudes we show in our lives are very important. We learn the values of those around us very early in our lives and begin to form our own values. Each month we learn about a different Living Value to support our whole school ethos. This happens in our PSHE and Religion & Worldviews lessons, as well as in year group and whole school assemblies.
