Group 7 - Mrs Pugh

Group 7 - Archie W, Damien DS, Oliver G, Finley N, Sophie T, Mia D, Eleanor S, Mia R, Emily C, Reis C, Flynn B and James G

We arrived at Blackwell full of excitement, took our bags straight to our village and heading straight to our first activity.

Group 7 darted into action with archery. Using real bow and arrows we had some skilful Robin Hoods and Maid Marians amongst the group. After a few practice rounds we finished the session with a competition crowning Flynn, James, Reis and Sophie as winners with an impressive score of 38.

Activity 2 set our sights high with abseiling. After climbing the 10ft tower, group 7 showed great courage and determination as they abseiled down the sheer tower face, encouraging  and cheering on their team mates all the way to the base.

With our feet back on the ground we stopped for a picnic lunch back at our villages and after a quick recharge set off for our third activity of crate stacking.

Showing exceptional teamwork, group 7 worked together to stack crates, supporting each other as they climbed as high as they could before their tower collapsed! Oliver and Damien held the record of 10 crates stacked with Reis and Flynn close behind them with 9! A great effort from everyone!

Testing their nerves group 7 then took on the fan descender for activity 4. Climbing the 9.3 ft pole to the platform at top if they dared, group 7 showed no fear as they breezed the challenge!

After dinner we took part in some group games before heading back to the village to settle down for the night. A fantastic start to our adventure, more fun to be had tomorrow.

After a good nights sleep and a delicious breakfast, group 7 were ready for action and took to the tree tops for the first activity of the day. Tree trekking led the group along a challenging obstacle course of wobbly bridges, tight ropes and swinging vines through the tree canopy, where the wind made the experience even more knee trembling! Each and every one of the group persevered and succeeded in completing the route, some of the more fearless members of the group even had a go blindfolded!!! A great start to the day!

Activity 2 was the zip wire. The thrill seeking members of group 7 literally jumped at the chance to launch themselves down the 250m zip wire. After safely reaching the landing zone at the bottom of the line there was only one way to get back up…a steep climb to the top of the hill where to the main platform awaited ready to ride the zip all over again. We lost count of how many goes we all had but there will definitely be some tired legs tonight!

After a quick refuel we headed to the woods to play laser tag, group 7 took on group 8 with the aim of surviving the longest! Dodging the opposition by hiding behind trees and shelters, group 7 each took their own approach contributing to the teams survival. After a brutal warm up there was a battle for last man standing which was a close finish with group 8 taking the glory. Then a competitive game of capture the flag left team 7 waving the winning red flag.

We finished the session with a game of hide and seek, both groups hid and myself and Miss Jordan were seekers, we left only a few survivors!

After working up a sweat, it was a real treat to cool off in the outside pool, a refreshing end to another busy day of activities.

After dinner we visited the shop and got ready to gather around the camp fire for our final night.

We packed up our pods and headed for breakfast. Full of pancakes we headed for the indoor climbing wall. A quiet start to the morning as the tiredness had set in but following a few practice climbs the competitiveness kicked in and group 7 were racing up the face of the wall.

We finished on a high with our last activity of the day - high all aboard.

Working in teams of 4, we had to climb a wooden pole and attempt to balance on the small platform on the top. The rest of group stayed grounded on the floor taking charge of the climbers safety ropes. Those that made it to the top were then set challenges with their toes teetering on the edge of the platform.

Once we were all safely back on the ground, we ended the morning with with a picnic lunch on the field and said our farewells to Blackwell.

We have had the most amazing adventure at Blackwell, group 7 have excelled themselves, pushing themselves out of their comfort zones, working as a team, supporting each other and most of all, having fun! Each and every member of the group should be very proud of themselves and each other.
