Group 4 - Miss Hemming

GROUP 4

Our final day at Blackwell!

After a good night’s sleep we are all well rested and ready for day three.

We had pancakes for breakfast and packed all our things away ready for more activities.

First up for group 4, the abseiling tower! In groups of four we climb to the top of the tower to then abseil back down, Arriyan, Sam, Tilly and Lily were first up and they quite literally sailed down like pros! Lilly, Charlotte, Mia went next showing us all amazing determination! Millie, Lily, Ellie-May, Ben and Max were brave and walked the steps to the top of the tower but the abseil down was slightly too scary! Well done for going up though guys!

Our last activity of the Blackwell trip was the giant zip line, this was by far the best activity of the week!

Millie has been reluctant to do any activities involving heights but Miss Hemming promised she would go on it with her, and with a bit of persuasion and maybe a slight nudge she whizzed down the zip line..not once, but twice!! Our group cheered her on, as did the group on the zip line next to us, the morale was incredible! Max was also unsure on this one due to the heights but he whizzed down that zip line so quick and also had a second turn! Well done to all the children who gave this a go, I know you all loved it! Most of you having a second and third go!

Group 4 you have been a delight to have this week, you have cheered each other on and you have been incredibly kind to each other. Well done!

Day 2 - Group 4

After a very early start for some we were up and ready for a yummy cooked breakfast!

Group 4 then headed off to the outdoor swimming pool, missing the downpour, we were lucky with glorious sunshine! They had inflatable balls, floats and the girls showed us their best mermaid impressions. Lily B and Ellie-May getting their lengths in whilst the boys splashed… a lot!

Our second activity of the day was laser tag. We headed down to the woods with our laser guns and our opponents.. Mrs Barlows team 3! We played various games, including capture the flag and save the president.

We showed amazing resilience and worked great together as a team, with Tilly being a real army trooper! I think it is fair to say Mrs Barlows group came out on top overall but we had amazing fun and won the last game! It was also lovely to hear the Blackwell instructor comment on how well behaved all the children were.

We had lunch in the sunshine and were able to visit the shop to spend our money. I think we emptied the shop of any sweets and fizzy drinks they had!

Then we were off to High All Aboard, a 30ft pole to climb with a small platform at the top. Arriyan was first up and helped Sam to join him on the platform. Max and Ben gave it a good shot but the 30ft pole is definitely not for everyone!

Next up, Tilly, Lily, Lilly and Charlotte… they were incredible! They worked so well together and all made it to on to the platform!

Our final four were Millie, Mia, Ellie-May and Lily B. Mia made it to the top with ease, in record time! With Millie, Elli-May and Lily deciding their feet belong firmly on the ground!

Our final activity before tea time was the tree trek adventure, we had lots of fun here, especially on the mini zip line at the end.

We have had a long, tiring day and I know everyone is excited for an evening around the campfire.. we’ve heard there may be toasted marshmallows!!

Group 4- Max S, Sam M, Ben C, Arriyan R, Mia S, Ellie-May T, Lily B, Millie C, Tilly P, Charlotte C, Lily B and Lilly B!

Group 4 started off with the crate stack! Working in pairs to climb as high as they could on the stacked crates, conquering a fear of heights, and the children below learning how to use the ropes! I think our top score was 12 crates high- great work group 4!

Next, we headed to the fan descender!

If a 10 meter pole to climb wasn’t scary enough, the children then had to free fall drop with a mini parachute jump experience. They were amazing, and it was lovely to see the encouragement from each other, we even had the Macarena midair from Charlotte! And they forced Miss Hemming to have a go too.. reluctantly!

After a picnic lunch we had a go at archery, with everyone competing in the pizza challenge, if they hit the targets they would gain things to top their ‘pizza’, if they missed the target they’d receive spinach… needless to say we had quite a few spinach dinners!!

Our fourth activity of the day was the indoor climbing wall, another fabulous time of conquering our fear of heights, I’m really proud of some of the children in the group who I know found this difficult but powered through!

With a yummy pasta tea and chocolate brownie for tea we were back out ready for field games!
I think everyone will sleep well tonight!
