Day 3

Day 3 began with pancakes for breakfast! Our first activity was Tree Trek where children had to navigate themselves across ropes and obstacles high up in the trees. The course finished with a zip line back to the start which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Our final activity of the trip was the fan descender. Children had to climb up a telephone pole with a platform at the top. Amazingly, all children quickly climbed to the top and jumped off without hesitation! The fan they were attached to spins quicker as the children fall, slowing them down as they reach the bottom. All children then participated in the extra challenge - they took a tennis ball up with them and attempted to throw it into a bucket below. Well done to Natalia for getting the ball closest to the bucket.

Wow Group 1 - what a fantastic few days! You should be very proud of how much each of you have pushed yourselves this trip. It has been a pleasure to be your group leader!

Day 2

After a hearty breakfast, Group 1 headed down to the field for their first activity of the day - Archery!

Children listened to the instructor for a safety talk as well being taught the correct technique for using the bow and arrow.

Congratulations to Harry, Mason and Faith who hit Gold and Charlotte, Mya, Natalia, Teddy, CJ, Sid, Owen, Henry, Dylan who hit Red.

Up next was Abseiling! All children made it to the very top of the tall platform. Well done to all of the children who managed to successfully abseil down to the bottom. A special mention to Mya, Natalia and Faith who although didn't manage to abseil down, did make it to the top to peer over the edge!

Crate stack was our first activity of the afternoon. As the name suggests, children had to increase the height of their stack by 1 crate each time and support their partner from falling off. Here are the heights from each pair:

Sid and Owen: 11

CJ and Mason: 10

Teddy and Harry: 11

Natalia and Mya: 14

Dylan and Henry: 10

Faith and Charlotte: 11

The last activity of the day was the zip line. At first, children went down the zip line one at a time but then had the opportunity to go with a friend and race to the bottom. The children showed a lot of resilience walking back up the steep hill after each go!

In the evening, all groups will come together for the camp fire songs! As well as singing and dancing, children will get to toast marshmallows over the fire! Yummy!

Once we arrived at Blackwell, the children were shown to their camps. Children put their bags into their pods then headed straight to the field to put harnesses on ready for their first activity - Indoor Climbing!

All children in Group 1 were able to reach the very top of the climbing wall. On their next attempts, children challenged themselves to only use a certain colour peg. Children learned how to belay and support their partners climbing up and down.

Our next activity was High All Aboard. Children had to climb a very tall telephone pole with small platform at the top. Sid, Henry, Dylan and Owen were the first four to the top and beautifully sang 'I believe I can fly' as they descended. Up next were CJ, Mason, Teddy and Harry followed by Mya, Faith, Charlotte and Natalia.

After a quick stop for lunch at the pods, Group 1 joined Group 2 for their swim session. Children enjoyed playing with the equipment in the water.

Next up was Lazer Tag! Children were separated into two teams, red and blue. They played different games trying to eliminate the other team and steal their flag! A fantastic effort from everyone!

After our evening meal, children finished the day playing a variety of different games led by the instructors on the day!

A super start to the residential trip by all children in Group 1!
