Gardening

Welcome to Westacre Gardening Club!

Gardening Club is on Monday afternoons from 3pm - 4pm.

Gardening club is an exciting opportunity for anyone who enjoys being outside and would like to learn more about gardening.  We have two raised beds in school, some pots and two small gardens at the front of school which we plant and maintain.

Its also the time for us to get together to discuss and share ideas about our own gardens - that may be a few pots on a windowsill, some beautiful houseplants or our own garden at home.

Come along to gardening where we have fun, be healthy and realise how wonderful nature is!

Mrs Kirkby.

Over the past few weeks,  we have been busy preparing our raised beds for this year's crops. We have already planted our onion sets and have some peas and several varieties of beans growing indoors which we will plant out when the weather warms up.

We have also planted lots of red, white and blue flower seeds which we hope will be in full bloom in June to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.

Gardens provide the perfect habitat for many mini beasts. Take a look at the information sheet and see how many you can spot in your garden.

Spring sees the return of many of our favourite garden and song birds. Make a bird feeder to attract them to your garden. How many different birds can you spot feasting on your bird feeder?

April 2022

We planted sunflower seeds today and got the beans into the ground. Thanks to the rain and sunshine our strawberries are growing well. Unfortunately, so are the weeds!

Our Visit to the Community Garden.

This week we went to the community garden to tidy up the pots and to get it ready for Jubilee Day.
