 House Captain Roles

In assembly, we announced which Year 7 children have been chosen for the very important roles of House Captain and Sports Captain this year. Those involved are very excited to be helping leading our new houses (Athene, Griffin, Pegasus and Phoenix) for the rest of the school year. We are sure they are all going to be amazing role models for everyone in school!

Choir Performance

Our school choir were thrilled to be able to perform during this year's Droitwich Christmas Lights Switch On event! The children performed in St Andrews Square and thoroughly entertained the crowd, who gave the children a rapturous applause after each and every song the performed. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of the children for representing Westacre so well and helping to get the town into the festive spirit!

Primary STEM Challenge

Over thirty of our most able mathematicians and scientists in Years 5 & 6 took part in this year's Stemworks Primary STEM Challenge. This involved the children working together in pairs to design and create their own moving model of a ride at the West Midlands Safari Park, before then presenting to the rest of the group about how they felt that had met all of the design criteria. Sarah from Stemworks commented on how impressed she was with the children's reasoning and problem solving! In the end, she chose George and Elijah from Year 6 as the overall winning pair - the boys will go on to represent Westacre in a Worcestershire STEM event later in the school year. Well done to every single pupil for their achievements with this challenge!

Anti-Bullying Week

Anti-Bullying Week burst into action on Monday 10th November, filling the school with energy, colour and a powerful message about celebrating who we are. We kicked off with Odd Socks Day, wearing bright, quirky and wonderfully mismatched socks as pupils and staff proudly showed off what makes them unique.

On Wednesday, we participated in Positive Noticing Day. Children took home special labels for parents and carers to decorate with uplifting comments and when the labels returned to school, they quickly became covered in even more positive messages from friends and teachers. The atmosphere was buzzing as children discovered the thoughtful and encouraging things others had noticed about them.

During wellbeing time, classes came together to share and reflect on these positive noticings, sparking heartfelt discussions about kindness, confidence and how good it feels to lift each other up. By the end of the week, the whole school was buzzing with positivity, reminding us all that small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.

World Mental Health Day - Hello Yellow

Our school has been taking part in Hello Yellow (World Mental Health Day) today to raise awareness for YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity for young people’s mental health. No young person should feel alone with their mental health and that’s why Hello Yellow matters. We’re took this opportunity as a school community to come

together and show our pupils that we’re with them and they’re never alone with their mental health.

Children were invited to wear a yellow accessory to school, alongside their normal school uniform and throughout the week, children have been learning how, as a school, we promote good mental health and coping strategies for when times can be tricky!

Pupil Voice & Leadership Roles

Following lots of impressive written applications, Year 7 children have now been appointed the roles of Prefect, House Captain, Sports Captain and Sports Leader. During a whole school assembly, the roles were announced and the children received their special lanyards to wear throughout the year. The children are incredibly excited and we look forward to seeing the impact they have this year. Children in all year groups have also been elected for the many Pupil Voice roles across school, including members of our Westacre Parliament this year. Well done to everyone elected and good luck with your roles this year!

Head Boy and Girl

Here are Head Boy George and Head Girl Elsie. They have been chosen to take on these vitally important roles for the 2025/26 school year. They will work alongside the other MPs in the Westacre Parliament but will also work closely with Mrs Evans, Mrs Doolin and Mr Barber in making important decisions about school life. Well done Elsie and George for your appointment - we are sure you will be amazing role models this year!
