This week, we have been archaeologists, digging up Greek artefacts and using inference skills to learn about the past.
This week we have been busy testing in English and have been really proud of how well the children have done!
Well done 6RM for being the winning class again for AR reading, but others are close behind! Let’s see if they’re still in the top spot after half-term.
This week assembly was from Mr Forrester who told us about the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio and we heard an extract about the characters and reasons behind the author writing this novel. It’s a very inspiring book, with the message of being kind to others, that lots of us now want to try!
This week's assembly was led by Miss Stewart. She spoke about our new living value for October, 'Friendship'. We watched a short clip about how friendships can change and how we should be mindful of people's feelings.
Miss Stewart also shared the book of the week with us, 'Rooftoppers' by Katherine Rundell. In fact, we had a treat when Katherine herself read a section of chapter 1 too us via a YouTube clip.
To top off our wonderful assembly, we celebrated the Roll of Honour winners, Bronze merit winners, the attendance winners, Spelling Frame winners, AR winners and even children who have been successful outside of school! We are very proud to see so much success.
In science, we have been learning lots about light: that it travels in a straight line; about all of the different light sources; how it helps us to see; and how reflective surfaces work with light. In our lesson on reflection we created periscopes to test the use of reflective surfaces and how they are used to see somewhere different.
