Pupil Premium

Meet the Pupil Premium Team

The Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) is additional money received from the government to help schools to support the learning needs of groups of pupils to ensure that they achieve their full potential.

This includes pupils who are entitled to free school meals, children who are looked after by the local authority and HM forces children.

Westacre is a school which is committed to raising the achievement for all groups of pupils and securing the very best outcomes for every child.  We recognise that not every child receiving PPG is socially disadvantaged and also that not every child who is disadvantaged receives PPG.  By focusing on children's individual needs we aim to enable every child to achieve and make the best progress they can.  Whilst maintaining a careful track of all pupils' progress and attainment, we also closely track how well PPG children are achieving in comparison to their peers in order to close the gap.  We invest in high-quality training for all staff to ensure teaching and learning is of a consistently high standard across school.

OUR VISION...

About the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)

Pupil Premium is a significant amount of funding which is allocated according to the number of pupils on-roll who are eligible for free school meals (FSM).  A smaller amount is allocated according to the number of children in service families, and an allocation is made for each student who has been 'Looked After' (in care) for one day or more, is adopted, or has left care under a special guardianship order or a residence order.

For the financial year 203-24, the PPG that schools receive is:

  • Standard Pupil Premium (FSM) for years 5 and 6 = £1,455
  • Standard Pupil Premium (FSM) for year 7 = £1,035
  • Looked-after and previously looked-after children = £2,530
  • Service premium = £335

Your child will be entitled to a PPG if any of the following criteria apply to your current circumstances:

  • Ever 6 free school meals (for children who have recorded a period of being eligible for FSM in the past six years)
  • Children adopted from care or who have left care
  • Ever 6 service child (for children eligible for the service child premium in the past six years)

Please contact the school office (office@westacre.worcs.sch.uk) if you have any questions regarding Pupil Premium.
