Lego Building

In the morning, we had a massive Lego workshop where we had to use the theme of ‘survival’ to build our own survival setting. Some of us chose to build islands, some of us made forests and some of us used oceans to get the effects we wanted, but we were allowed to combine the different bases if we wanted.

It was so much fun to be able to be creative and play and build with our friends.

Choosing our own groups is always good to do! It definitely helped with our teamwork and effectiveness as well because we agreed quite easily and all had the same ideas in mind. There was a lot of variety to the things that we built and there were so many different pieces: it was really entertaining to put the little characters in different suits on there, and to give them the tools and weapons that they would need for survival in their places. Because there was so much Lego, there were so many different options and it really let us be like younger kids again!

After we finished building them, we got to go and look at everyone else’s versions, so that was really enjoyable as well to see the different ideas and how ours compared to theirs as well.

In the second bit, we had to go into the sports hall and complete 2 team challenges, involving building and taking apart the longest pieces of connected Lego that we could. Having competitions is amazing and so much fun, so we really enjoyed getting to do that. The competitions were close and, despite some… interesting (definitely not cheating) tactics, everyone got very involved and persevered to the end. It was a great morning activity and we loved doing it – we’d definitely do it again in the future!
