In our Lego activity, we got to do lots of amazing team challenges where we had to make the longest pieces of Lego that we could, but the only thing was that they all had to be connected and no bricks were allowed to be loose or split from the main piece. We split into a few different teams and worked together to see who could finish their line first. It made things really intense and competitive, so we loved doing it. After that, we had to do a similar thing but the opposite way, where we did a relay to disconnect each line and put the Lego sets away 1 brick at a time. There were some interesting ways of doing this and some of us struggled to do this following the rules in the way we were meant to..! But it was good and everyone showed a lot of resourcefulness and reasoning to work out the best way that it needed to be sorted out.
In the second half, we did things like building different survival areas and even build games and jets! We had a very fun time being able to choose our own group and work with our friends because we felt comfortable to agree with some parts of their ideas and disagree with other bits that we didn’t think would work. It took a bit of thinking to come up with our ideas in the first place, but when we knew what we wanted to do, everything got built really quickly and in the end, a lot of it looked incredible. We chose the colour schemes, how to decorate the survival islands and also what our characters were supposed to represent and be in each piece. Then we got to judge each others and see what the other groups had been working on, so that was a nice thing to do at the end. Everyone showed great respect and kindness for other people’s designs as well so we were all really pleased with that.
