Team Challenges

For Team Challenges, we had 2 separate challenges that we needed to do, and both of them involved water. In the first one, we had to see how much water we could transport from one bucket to our base camp, using only the items we were given: scissors, glue and paper! After our planning time to come up with a tactic to use, we had 5 minutes in a relay to see how much of the water we could get to our base camp. This was mostly really messy after the first 60 seconds when our paper devices fell apart with the water, so there was lots of water on the ground and we ended up using our hands for a lot of it. It was a great time though and very funny watching people try to keep the water in their hands and make it to the camp. Everyone got really involved and supported their team well, giving lots of encouragement at all times. At the end of the 5 minutes, Holly, Florrie and Melek were our winners, getting a seriously impressive 815ml back to their camp!

For challenge 2, we had to build the strongest boat we could out of foil, so that it wouldn’t sink when weight was added to it. The aim was to get it to float for 30 seconds and then see which one could hold the most weight without sinking as well. All of the designs were so different in size and shape, so it showed unique and creative thinking. Most of the boats floated for the 30 seconds so everyone clearly did very well in designing them (a couple did sink in 5 seconds, though)! 3 of the boats made it to a final competition because they survived for 30 seconds with 300g of weight in them. Unfortunately, 2 sank quite quickly when another 100g was added. One of them was absolutely amazing though because it managed to stay floating with 700g of weight in it and only sank when that was put up to 800g, so more than double the next one down. A huge well done to Jaycielea, Evie and Faith for their super ship!
