Team Challenges

For our Team Challenges activity, we needed to see how much water we could get from one bucket to another one in 60 seconds, with a device which we built from paper and glue as the only thing that could help us to carry it. Most of us helped to design and create different carrying bits and then we went out onto the playground to complete the challenge and show off if our reasoning and resourcefulness skills matched what we were trying to do. When we were carrying the water it started off quite well, but by the end of our 60 seconds, the paper had fallen apart a bit and it became much harder to get the water to where it needed to be. Lots of water got spilled and we ended up losing a lot of it when we were trying to run. We did all give it our best shot though and get really involved in it. We enjoyed it, but it was definitely harder than it seemed like it was going to be at first!

The second challenge was where we had to make little boats to hold and carry food from on the water. To make them, we needed to use foil because it was easier to change its shape and get it to sit how we needed it to. None of the boats we designed were exactly the same, so it was good to see that people had their own ways of doing it and everyone was trying to be better than the others! Building them was really fiddly and sometimes a bit frustrating because bits wouldn’t quite go how we wanted them, but it was also a lot of fun because it was quite an unusual thing for us to do and it isn’t something we get to do much of.
