Water Cleaning

When we did the water cleaning, we had to go and get all the natural things that might be in water you get when you are surviving, like gravel, mud, sand, sticks and leaves. Some of us didn’t like doing that bit because we got it under our nails, but being outside and finding the things we needed felt a bit like a competition so that was fun for us.

After we got all of our materials together and put them in a big jug, we added our water to it and then had to mix it to make dirty water. It looked disgusting! Pouring it out, separating it and then trying to filter it using the proper filter paper was the fun part because it was quite a messy thing to do and we could see how well we were doing when it started getting clearer and clearer as well. At the end of the activity, the teacher judged who had the cleanest water and they won the competition. In our group, there was a tie between 2 teams because their water looked really clear and had no bits left in it!
