Water Cleaning
The water cleaning was really, really messy! We had to go and find a lot of different materials to make our water dirty, including gravel, mud, sand, sticks and leaves. When we had it all in our jugs, we added 500ml of water to it and stirred it around, so it made a horrible colour that definitely wasn’t safe to drink!
The activity was good because it was very hands-on, and we got to see the transformations in the colour of the water very clearly as well. Most of us also learned how to use filter paper properly instead of just balancing it on the funnels and the beakers and seeing the water run off the end, so that was good for us as well. Almost all of us got the water to be clear by the end of the time and that made us feel quite proud of what we achieved. At the end, we had a big vote and Abigail, Jay and Sienna had the clearest water.
