Westacre's Wellbeing Ambassadors
During the Autumn term, Mrs Brownlee (our pastoral lead) started her mission to seek this year’s Wellbeing’s Ambassadors. The pastoral team sent out applications to all year groups, excited to see who was eager and ready to apply. After thoughtful consideration, the following children were chosen to represent their classes as Wellbeing Champions.
The Wellbeing Champions first important task was to speak to the whole school about Children’s mental Health in our school assembly. With the help of some our very well-known inside out characters, the children were able to explain to the school, about feelings, emotions and looking after our wellbeing. Though some of the children were quite nervous, they did a fantastic job, speaking confidently to peers and staff. We are very proud of you for conveying this important message.
The Wellbeing Champions continue to meet regularly with Mrs Brownlee, to discuss how they can support friendships, wellbeing and positivity within their classes and across the school.
Our next task that the Wellbeing Champions will be involved in, is to revamp our calm corners in our classrooms to ensure that all children have a welcoming, safe place to use to help look after their wellbeing. This involves checking our sensory boxes to ensure that children have access to regulation resources. The children will be able to identify what resources they feel would benefit children across the school.
So far this year, the Wellbeing Champions, have done a marvellous job with supporting their classes with their mental health and Wellbeing. The pastoral team have regularly seen the children talking to their classes about their feelings and emotions.
