The last adventure before the journey home for group 1 was weaselling at RAC boulders.
The group climbed up the rocks, squeezed through the smallest gaps and reached the top of the rock face. This was followed by climbing a separate boulder and jumping from the top, trying to avoid landing in the boggy water beside them!
Every single member showed tremendous bravery, supporting each other through the difficult terrain and hyping each other up when they succeeded.
We enjoyed a peaceful picnic lunch & made every second count of our final minibus ride with ‘W Dave’.
Group 1 describe their experience as out of their comfort zone, epic, filled with thrilling activities and new opportunities.
Today, Group 1 headed out for a day at Porth Dafarch.
We kicked things off by grabbing our paddle boards and heading out onto the sea. After getting the hang of things, we made our way around a small island before paddling back in. After lunch, we headed back out, this time riding the waves and attempting some impressive jumps off the boards.
Next up was coasteering, and things really got adventurous. We scrambled across rocky edges, carefully climbed down toward the ocean, and took turns leaping into the water below. From front flips to backflips, everyone gave it their best shot, plenty of big splashes and laughter along the way!
To wrap up an action-packed day, we made one final stop before heading back, a well earned ice cream on the beach. Sitting together in the sun, enjoying the view and our treats, was the perfect ending to a brilliant day.
Today was a lot of fun, with varying levels of adventure!
Zip lining at Shotgun Quarry-
A large zip line, handmade by our amazing instructors Dave & Amy. At the start everyone was filled with nerves; that soon turned into “can we go again?!” when they’d reached the bottom. The views were incredible, it’s safe to say, fears were faced and conquered!
“It was really fun and high up, I was impressed with how the instructors made the zip line”- Finley
Canyoning at Afon Caseg-
A short walk to the waterfalls saw us knee deep in mud, several of us losing our shoes on the journey, with spirits high all round the afternoon was already off to a fantastic start! We climbed, scrambled, and splashed our way through the river, taking on natural challenges along the way. The highlight? Sliding down nature’s very own ‘waterslides’ swimming and a lot of laughter, it made for an unforgettable adventure.
“I had so much fun, even after I lost my shoe”- Mia
Group 1 enjoyed a fun-filled first full day of activities, packed with challenge, teamwork, and plenty of excitement.
Their first challenge was climbing Lion Rock. Although there were some nerves at the start, everyone showed great determination and resilience throughout the three-point ascent. Impressively, everyone successfully completed the climb, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way.
Later in the day, the group headed to the Menai Strait for a thrilling rafting adventure. They navigated exciting whirlpools and drops, making it an action-packed experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
To finish the day, the group spent time on the beach, skipping stones and playing together, an ideal way to relax and reflect on a fantastic day of activities.
Welcome to Group 1...
Here is our group blog for the week.
Group members: Miss Wheatley, Oliver G, Oliver R, Oliver B, Charlie, Teddy, Finley, Mia, Lily M, Freya and Holly I.
Everyone has arrived safely in Snowdonia and we’ve had a brilliant first day settling in. As soon as we got here, we headed straight to our rooms, got our beds made, and met our instructors for the week.
We didn’t hang around for long before getting stuck into our first activity at Llyn Padarn, where everyone had a go at rafting. After a bit of practice paddling (and a couple of accidental falls in along the way!), the group quickly grew in confidence. Before long, everyone had the chance to jump into the water—and the staff were so impressed with how many took on the challenge and embraced the cold!
After a busy afternoon, we returned to the centre for showers and a well-earned change of clothes, followed by a delicious dinner of pizza and wedges.
This evening, the groups are heading off in different directions: some will be taking part in nightline and team-building activities, others will be exploring Llanrug, and a few will be returning to Llyn Padarn for some orienteering.
A fantastic start to the week—everyone is in great spirits and already making the most of the experience!
