For our final day, Group 6 showed just how far they’ve come this week. The morning began with some serious teamwork as everyone worked hard to pack up their bags and leave their rooms spotless - no small task after such a busy few days! They then inhaled a well-earned breakfast of beans on toast, fuelling up for one last adventure.
Keen to make the most of every moment, we headed out to Lion Rock to squeeze in a final activity. It was brilliant to see how confident the group have become - what once felt new is now second nature, and they are officially pros at getting into their harnesses!
After a short hike up to the crag, the group took on the challenge of climbing and abseiling. Supporting one another every step of the way, they worked as a team - taking on the important role of belayers and trusting each other to keep everyone safe. There was a real sense of determination as they tackled the rock, and plenty of encouragement being shared from below.
Once again, the group demonstrated fantastic resilience, readiness, and teamwork. It’s been a brilliant way to round off an unforgettable trip, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything they’ve achieved.
Group 6 have had another brilliant day packed full of adventure, teamwork and plenty of laughter!
We started the morning with a hearty breakfast of sausages and hash browns before getting kitted up and heading out to Holyhead. The sun was shining as we arrived at the beach, and spirits were high as we quickly unloaded the paddle boards and made our way down to the water.
Showing fantastic teamwork, everyone worked together to practise their paddling and balancing skills. Before long, we were confidently riding waves back to the shore - although there were quite a few ‘accidental’ splashes along the way! There was lots of laughter as people took unexpected dips in the sea.
After a quick lunch in the sunshine, we headed back out onto the water to build on our new skills. The group enjoyed some friendly races, a bit of swimming, and even created a “mega board” by linking several paddle boards together - definitely a highlight of the day!
Once we’d packed away the equipment, we took a walk along the cliffs before scrambling down to the rocks for an exciting coasteering session. Miss Constable was incredibly impressed with the bravery shown - everyone gave it a go and pushed themselves outside their comfort zones. There was a real sense of pride in what had been achieved.
After all that effort, we had certainly earned a treat, so we headed to the Sea Shanty for what might just have been the best ice cream ever, enjoyed (of course) on the beach.
We finished the day back at the centre with a well-deserved dinner of fish and chips. This evening, some of the group have chosen to head out for another orienteering session, while others have opted for a relaxed film night - well deserved after such an active day!
Group 6 have had another brilliant day packed with adventure and challenge. After a hearty breakfast of egg and bacon, we met with our instructor, Sophie, to go through our plans before setting off for Rhiwbach Slate Mine.
The journey there was a quiet one - tiredness is definitely starting to catch up with us, and many of the group took the chance for a well-earned nap on the bus! Once we arrived, we began the hike up the hill, carrying all of our gear. At the top, we stopped to refuel with another picnic lunch (we’re definitely becoming experts at sandwich-making now!)
After lunch, it was time to get fully kitted up in waterproofs, wellies, harnesses, cows’ tails, mining helmets and ropes before heading into the mine. With torches at the ready, we explored the dark tunnels, stopping along the way to learn fascinating facts and history from Sophie.
Inside the mine, the real adventure began. The group took part in a range of exciting activities including underground rafting, zip lining, rock climbing and abseiling. It was incredible to see everyone pushing themselves, supporting one another and showing such resilience, teamwork and self-belief. Miss Constable and Sophie were extremely proud of every single member of the group.
Climbing out through the ladder shaft, we were all very relieved to see daylight again before making our way back down the hill to the bus. Another opportunity for a nap on the journey back was gratefully taken, followed by some very well - earned showers back at the centre.
A fantastic day all round - Group 6 should be very proud of themselves!
Group 6 have had a fantastic day today!
We started by getting fully kitted up in wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets before heading over to Llyn Geirionydd. Once we arrived, we hiked down the hill and enjoyed lunch by the river - and it’s safe to say sandwiches definitely taste better when you’ve made them yourself!
After lunch, everyone showed great bravery as we took turns zip lining over the river. From there, we moved on to gorge scrambling, making our way up the river and then using the rocks and flowing water to slide back down - which was great fun and quickly brought out everyone’s adventurous side!
We continued further up the river, carefully navigating the rocks and small waterfalls. The group worked brilliantly as a team throughout, supporting and encouraging each other every step of the way.
At the top, we were rewarded with a well-deserved swim in the lake before heading back to the centre. After enjoying a tasty dinner of chicken korma, we finished the day by heading back out for some orienteering at the lake.
A busy, exciting day full of teamwork, courage and lots of smiles!
Welcome to Group 6...
Here is our group blog for the week.
Group members: Miss Constable, Lilly B, Lily B, Ellie-Rose, Charlotte, Tilly, Kensie, Archie, Jack and Fletcher.
Everyone has arrived safely in Snowdonia and we’ve had a brilliant first day settling in. As soon as we got here, we headed straight to our rooms, got our beds made, and met our instructors for the week.
We didn’t hang around for long before getting stuck into our first activity at Llyn Padarn, where everyone had a go at rafting. After a bit of practice paddling (and a couple of accidental falls in along the way!), the group quickly grew in confidence. Before long, everyone had the chance to jump into the water—and the staff were so impressed with how many took on the challenge and embraced the cold!
After a busy afternoon, we returned to the centre for showers and a well-earned change of clothes, followed by a delicious dinner of pizza and wedges.
This evening, the groups are heading off in different directions: some will be taking part in nightline and team-building activities, others will be exploring Llanrug, and a few will be returning to Llyn Padarn for some orienteering.
A fantastic start to the week—everyone is in great spirits and already making the most of the experience!
