We are looking forward to sharing all of the fun activities we will be taking part in during Experiences Week!
Today, the children had a creative and engaging morning as they began their new craft journals. Using a variety of pens and images, they enjoyed expressing their personalities by sharing their favourite things and a little bit about themselves.
After break, the class explored what plants need in order to grow, building their understanding of the natural world. They then used paint and acrylic paint pens to decorate their own plant pots, showing great creativity and care.
In the afternoon, the children planted their very own spider plants using compost. This hands-on activity helped reinforce their learning and gave them a sense of responsibility as they begin to care for their plants.
Today, our group enjoyed another amazing day!
We began by working collaboratively on a whole-group art project, using bright and vibrant colours to bring our individual tiles to life. We then took a walk to Gaudet Luce Golf Club via the Lido, where we enjoyed our packed lunches on the field. The children had the opportunity to relax and play games, with many choosing to take part in football. At the golf club, everyone thoroughly enjoyed participating in a game of footgolf, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the activity.
Thank you to all of the children for being wonderful representatives of Westacre School. Their positive attitudes, behaviour and teamwork made us very proud.
Group 2 have had another active day, learning the basic skills of trampolining. All the group showed fantastic support for one another and demonstrated excellent gymnastic skills. The children also learnt all about the sport of trampolining, including the life and achievements of British Olympic champion, Bryony Page. We hope that some of them will take inspiration from today’s taster session and go on to join a local trampoline club!
Well done to all of Group 2 for showing excellent manners and great teamwork throughout the day.
Today was a fantastic and engaging day for our group, filled with creativity, teamwork, and discovery!
We began the day by preparing our own sandwiches, choosing from cheese, jam, or ham. This was a great opportunity for everyone to practise independence and make their own choices.
Next, we headed outside to carry out a traffic survey. Pupils worked carefully to observe and record the different types of vehicles passing by our school, developing their observation and counting skills while enjoying some fresh air.
After lunch, the group took part in a series of exciting team challenges. These included keeping a straight face, lining up in order without speaking, travelling across the room without touching the floor, and using their imagination to turn simple shapes into objects and animals. The activities encouraged communication, problem-solving, and lots of laughter!
To finish the day, pupils explored their creativity by making their own stop motion videos. They learned how small movements between photos can create the illusion of motion, resulting in some brilliant and imaginative mini films.
It was a wonderful day full of learning, collaboration, and fun—well done to everyone involved!
Our group had a fantastic final day of Experiences Week!
In the morning, we started by testing our general knowledge with some fun Kahoot quizzes.
After break, we took part in Year 7 Bingo, where our group did brilliantly. One student achieved three full lines, and we had several full houses across the group. Everyone really enjoyed the prizes!
In the afternoon, we relaxed by watching Bad Guys 2 while enjoying some freshly made popcorn – a perfect way to end a great week.
The final photo is a picture of our whole class artwork inspired by the artist Wassily Kandinski, which is proudly up on display in the classroom.
A big thank you to all the students in Group 2, who have been a pleasure to work with throughout the week.
