Group 6

What a fantastic start to our year 6 residential at Blackwell.

After arriving this morning, everyone settled into their sleeping pods and quickly for an action-packed first day.

Our morning activities included archery and the tree trek course. A special mention goes to Imogen and Hugo for facing their fears with incredible determination. We are so proud of them! In fact, every single child deserves recognition for their courage as they tacked the high ropes course and soared down the zip wire with big smiles.

We enjoyed lunch outside in our village, making the most of the lovely surroundings before heading before heading off for an exciting afternoon.

The afternoon brought even more challenges with abseiling and high all-aboard challenge. Everyone gave their best efforts every step of the way. Congratulations to Noah H, Olivia-Mae and Harmani who reached the very top and celebrated with a little dance for all to see.

after such a busy day, we sat down to a delicious evening meal of pasta followed by chocolate brownies, which went down a treat. 
As the sun begins to set, we are looking forward to our evening activities to round off an unforgettable first day. The children have been brilliant ambassadors for our school, showing resilience and teamwork throughout her day. We cant’t wait to see what tomorrow brings. 

What an incredible second day we have had on our residential trip!

The day began with a hearty breakfast, where everyone had the choice of bacon, beans, sausages and toast, or cereal to fuel up for another action-packed day.

Straight after breakfast, we headed to the Can Descender, where the children truly amazed us with their determination and bravery. They faced their fears by climbing a towering pole before carefully stepping onto a tiny platform to take the famous "Leap of Faith." It was fantastic to see every child either reach the very top or improve on each attempt. Some even chose to jump with the rope attached to their back, giving themselves the ultimate adrenaline rush! The encouragement and support they showed one another throughout the activity was wonderful to see.

Next, it was time for indoor climbing. The children couldn't wait to race Mrs Bennett to the top of the climbing wall—and, much to her amusement, they won every single time! Their energy, confidence and enthusiasm were infectious.

After a busy morning, we enjoyed lunch in the shade. It felt like one giant picnic as all of the Year 6 children relaxed together, shared stories from the morning and recharged for the afternoon ahead.

The afternoon brought more fun with a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool, which was the perfect way to cool down in the warm weather. We then teamed up with Group 5 for an exciting game of laser tag. There was plenty of teamwork, laughter and friendly competition as everyone ducked, dodged and aimed their way around the course.

We rounded off another fantastic day on our residential with a delicious dinner after an afternoon of swimming, followed by some well-earned donuts for dessert!

Now we're looking forward to ending the day with a campfire sing-song as a whole group. What an incredible second day it has been—we've made so many great memories already, and we can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Residential Blog – Day 3

Our final day of residential began with packing up our belongings and loading everything into the pods before heading off for a delicious breakfast. The children enjoyed a choice of pancakes with syrup or fresh fruit to fuel them for the day ahead.

Our first activity was the zip wire. Everyone gathered to watch and see what they thought before Mrs Bennett bravely volunteered as the test dummy! After seeing her fly down, almost everyone had a go, with many children enjoying it so much they went down more than once. Well done to everyone for showing such courage and enthusiasm.

Next came the crate stack challenge. Working in pairs, the children carefully stacked crates higher and higher while balancing on top. Westacre's record stands at 18 crates, and Everly and Erin reached an incredible 17 crates and were still going strong. We’re convinced they would have broken the record if we'd had a little more time!

Lunch was another picnic enjoyed in the sunshine before it was time to say our thank yous and goodbyes to the fantastic Blackwell staff, who helped make our residential such a memorable experience.

A huge well done to Group 6! You have all been brilliant throughout the trip, showing teamwork, resilience, kindness and determination. We are all incredibly proud of you and hope you have made memories that will last a lifetime.
